Beliefs

We believe that Jesus and the Bible are central.
Our faith centers on the saving death and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. The authority for our belief is the Bible, which records the redeeming acts of God in history. These beliefs are summarized in the ancient Apostles' and Nicene Creeds. For more, click here.
For more depth, see An Outline of the Faith (Catechism), or the Articles of Religion, both of which are excerpts from the Book of Common Prayer.

We believe that God is accessible and we can know Him.
The Good News of the Christian faith is that God has made a way for us to know Him personally. The Bible teaches that we experience a spiritual rebirth of eternal significance when we enter a relationship with Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is working for, in, and through us.
The Holy Spirit, given to all who confess that Jesus is Lord, seeks to change us and develop in us Christ-like characteristics. The Holy Spirit also gives us gifts for ministry, specific abilities that enable us to do the work God has called us to do.

We believe that the Episcopal Church offers something special.
Each Episcopal church is different, so we welcome you to see how this new evangelical Episcopal church in Harrisonburg can help you realize the potential God has for you. For more about the riches of the Episcopal Church, click here.

We believe in the primacy of worship in the Church's life.
Worship is the Church's main work. Everything else we do will be so much better if we are first of all worshipers. We take delight in offering ourselves to God through Scripture-based, Christ-centered, and Spirit-welcoming liturgical services. Worship is a way of life for us, not just something we do on Sundays.

We believe in the priesthood of all believers.
The Bible teaches that every follower of Christ is a minister -- at least potentially.  The Bible also teaches that every church is called to equip its ministers for ministry. Christ The King seeks to help its members realize their potential in every dimension of their lives.

We believe the local church is God's instrument to expand His Kingdom.
The local church's unique role in the world is to reconcile all persons to unity with God and each other in Christ. Jesus commanded His followers to continue His work, and Christ The King is joyfully committed to making disciples who extend God's kingdom. We partner with local and overseas ministries to reach people in need.
